• Julie A Moran, DO; MA Department of Developmental Services

• Christine J Clifford, MHP; Center for Developmental Disabilities Evaluation & Research, Shriver Center, UMass Medical School

Description: People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience complex age-related issues, including dementia-related disorders. Massachusetts is working to enhance state systems, embed dementia knowledge into service networks, and deliver support services that are evidence-based. The presenters will discuss the Commonwealth’s unique approach to the diagnosis, care assessment and support, and training for people with dementia and IDD and their caregivers.

Learning Objectives:
• Describe the assessment process and training supports for people with IDD and dementia and their caregivers provided by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services
• Recognize the support needs of caregivers for people with IDD and dementia
• Suggest steps to resource navigation and additional supports from both the Aging and IDD service support systems.

Target Audience: Caregivers of people with IDD: including Direct Support Staff, Nurses, Physicians, and others in administrative roles managing support needs or programs.COVID-19 Outcomes Among People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
